Three days of festivities
5:30pm to 11:00pm
A special intimate evening with Peter featuring a wonderful meal and the opportunity to take part in the live auction for items like a Say with Peter Sagan, a signed Sagan Specialized race bike, signed World Championship jerseys and much more. This is a special affair with Peter and other cycling celebs in a unique setting.
More details to follow…
Expo 10:00am–5:00pm
VIP Experience 5:00pm
The Expo will host 70 vendors at North City in San Marcos, where riders will pick up their registration and swag bags and get to mingle with Peter and a host of other cycling celebs. Riders will get to check out the latest wares for their cycling lifestyles as well as sample products from a host of supporting sponsors.
Saturday evening at 5:00pm, the VIP Event will open up to paying VIPs at URGE. Attendees will enjoy a fantastic spread from URGE and get to indulge in some fun presentations. For those wanting a bit more, there is an opportunity for 8 groups to take over a bowling lane post dinner and hang out with Peter in a much more private setting.
We are presenting the cycling community a unique opportunity to dine and party with an elite, select crew of cycling VIPs and athletes with Peter at the center of the fete. We have an incredible location at the Expo: sm.UrgeGastroPub.com
We are working with Peter to create an exclusive chance for people to take part in this special event the night before the big ride. The venue will be festive and fun, not a black-tie affair. We will create a lively agenda for the night that will include a happy hour, wonderful meal, special presentations, a course preview for the ride the next day, a Q&A with Peter (moderated by Event Director/Creator Michael Marckx) and a video presentation to cap it off.
The VIP Experience will come at the end of the Peter Sagan Gran Roadie-Oh Expo, which will run from 10am to 5pm at the North City venue. This will offer a seamless transition from the event expo/registration into the evening’s special fete.
7:00am
This will be a huge event for SoCal and quickly become the biggest ride in the region. It will take riders places that no other events go, traversing sinuous back country roads and pristine climbs (but nothing too long) across North County’s picturesque vistas on three different length courses.
Courses:150K, 100K, 50K
Profiles: The longest will be the hilliest and the shortest the flattest. There are a couple of short gravel sections (150K event), but nothing like the BWR.
Reason for this type of ride: There are no rides in San Diego where our unique topography of punchy climbs is celebrated with a large collection of Sprint Sectors for riders to compete in across all age categories. There are flat rides along the coast. There are rides that just do big climbs all day. And there is the BWR that has it all, especially dirt. We want to celebrate the hills we have in SD because there is no other place like it in the US… it has such beautiful riding scenery. You would have to go to Tuscany to do such a ride. We want to own this type of ride here and thus we have chosen the fun name of the Peter Sagan Gran Roadie-Oh, which is both playful and uniquely descriptive of the type of ride it is.
Most uniquely, the longer route will feature the ‘Green Jersey Go-Around’ competition, a feature that all 150-km riders can compete in. In honor of Sagan’s seven Green Jerseys, there will be seven, roughly 1-km Sprint Sectors for riders in various age categories to compete in, plus several secret Sprint Sectors that represent Peter’s future Green Jerseys. Winners will be those with the lowest cumulative times across ‘all’ the Sprint Sectors of the ‘Go-Around.’ These victorious riders will receive a signed event Green Jersey from Peter.
All three courses begin together with the 100km and 150km diverging after about 16-miles. While not too hilly, the longest course features not only the signature Sprint Sectors, but a variety of punchy, rolling and extended climbs to keep everyone on their toes.
